  • Wii Sports Sequal Incoming?

Iwata Says No Wii Sports Sequel In Works

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has stated that Nintendo has absolutely no plans as of right now and is not working on a sequel to Wii Sports for the Wii console.

This is a bit surprising as there have been rumors for months that Nintendo was working on a brand new sequel to Wii Sports which may have even been ready for this holiday season. These were known to be rumors and have now been confirmed to be false. Iwata stated that if a sequel came it would not just be a few new sports added in.

Iwata stated that "We’re not going to take away such an easy way, not by including seven new sports in the game since Wii Sports has five. We’re not closing our doors to the possibility of a sequel, but it’s definitely not coming out soon."

This is not all that shocking when you think about it as Nintendo made no mention of it at E3 and is working hard to get Wii Fit released along with other big 1st party titles such as Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Wii Sports 2 will have to wait...

  • No Online Capability for Metroid Prime on Wii

Sucks. Look like Metroid will not have online capabilities. With the first online game for Wii (Pokemon Battle Revolution) just recently hitting stores, it may not be terribly surprising that the next big release joins the vast majority of Wii titles without Wi-Fi play. However, with all the delays we should have seen this coming. :(

GamePro: Will Metroid Prime 3 have any online modes?

Michael Kelbeugh:: No. It's something we talked about early on, but we only have so many resources. We opted to devote those resources to making a better single-player experience.

What are the biggest differences between Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and the previous two Metroid Prime games? It's got to be the controls. The integration of the controls with the Wii controller is a phenomenal difference, and a dramatic improvement in the experience as a whole.

How difficult was it to figure out how the controls would work? When we first saw the Wii controller, our game director Mark Pacini was really concerned about being able to take all the controls we used in Metroid Primes 1 and 2 - because, really, you use every single button in those games - and morph them into the Wii controller. So we spent a tremendous amount of time making that as seamless and as intuitive as possible. And I think we accomplished that. I think we did a really good job , so that you can pick the Remote and Nunchuk up and not be intimidated.
