Iwata Says No Wii Sports Sequel In Works
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has stated that Nintendo
has absolutely no plans as of right now and is not working on a sequel to Wii
Sports for the Wii console.
This is a bit surprising as there have been rumors for
months that Nintendo was working on a brand new sequel to Wii Sports which may
have even been ready for this holiday season. These were known to be rumors and
have now been confirmed to be false. Iwata stated that if a sequel came it would
not just be a few new sports added in.
Iwata stated that "We’re not going to take away such an
easy way, not by including seven new sports in the game since Wii Sports has
five. We’re not closing our doors to the possibility of a sequel, but it’s
definitely not coming out soon."
This is not all that shocking when you think about it as
Nintendo made no mention of it at E3 and is working hard to get Wii Fit released
along with other big 1st party titles such as Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros.
Brawl.
Wii Sports 2 will have to
wait...
